Conformation - The Original Dog Performance Sport

Conformation trials are the oldest and still most popular types of dog shows. By definition, conformation is reserved for pure-bred dogs – the competition is to find the dog that best conforms to its breed standards. In addition, all dogs participating in conformation must be intact (not spayed or neutered) because the point of the effort is to evaluate breeding stock!

Training for conformation requires as much work as any other dog sport. The competitions can be fierce, though most sanctioning organizations do allow a professional handler to present your dog. Nevertheless, it is essential that you work with your dog frequently and consistently to successfully compete.
