Dock Diving Basics
Dock Diving is so popular because it is a fun, accessible sport that just about any dog and handler team can enjoy. There are practically no restrictions on the type or breed of dogs that can participate...or even win! Anyone can show up at an event, register their dog and compete. The handlers can be of any age and the only restriction is that the dog must be over 6 months old (for safety reasons).
Dock Diving does not require the level of training that other dog sports warrant. In fact, the 2002 ESPN2 Super Retriever Champion both won and broke the world record in his first competition – the qualifier for the Championship he ultimately won! Dogs of all sizes compete, from Chihuahuas to Great Danes, against other dogs if the same class.
