Flyball competitions are held year round throughout North America, Europe, and even
Australia. They are generally hosted by local flyball clubs who are affiliated with
a national sanctioning organization. Most flyball tournaments are two-
Generally, the teams entered in a flyball competition are seeded according to their past results (speed) so that every race is competitive and exciting. Within each division, the teams each compete against the others in round robin format and the team with the most wins also wins the tournament.
As with most other dog sports, flyball teams are competing both against the other teams and to improve their own results. Champion flyball teams become so simply by beating every other team in their competitive divisions. Currently, there are no titles that require flyball teams to accumulate points as in other recognized dog sports.
The largest flyball competition is the North American Flyball Championships, though the European Championships are growing quickly as well. In 2009, about 300 teams competed at the NAFC.
The dogs earn points towards flyball titles based on the teams time:
* less than 32
secs: Each dog receives 1 point
* less than 28 secs: Each dog receives 5 points

than 24 secs: Each dog receives 25 points
